Unions are actively campaigning for more worker participation in health and safety at work. Unions are also involved in training and supporting workplace health and safety reps.

The system has to be worked out in good faith between workers, their union, and employers. If agreement hasn't been reached after 6 months, a default option is included in the law.

An employer cannot simply decide to keep an existing system. All workers and unions must be given the opportunity to have say.
